Survival Story of Aisha Khan

Aisha Khan has been working for the past fifteen years and is in fact one of the pioneers of Behbood Association. She is very active and full of life. Last year the Pink Ribbon mobile Mammogram bus went for a two day free screening of high risk women to the Behbood Association. Aisha Khan remembers clearly that when the bus first came to their office premises all the women made fun of each other (including herself) and discouraged each other from getting screened, even if for free, from the service Pink Ribbon was providing. But upon insistence and encouragement from the Pink Ribbon staff a lot of women decided to go ahead with the screening. After all there wasn’t anything to lose but a lot to gain.

That decision is perhaps the foremost reason of her existence today. When her mammogram reports were handed over to her, she found out then that she was suffering from breast cancer. She took this revelation with great fear and uncertainty. She had financial issues so she waited for them to improve before she revealed her medical condition to anyone. Through out this time, regular calls from Pink Ribbon were made to her and they finally convinced her and facilitated her treatment free of cost at INMOL.

Pink Ribbon followed up with her progress till the time she wasn’t given an all-clear from her doctors. She herself says that had Pink Ribbon not pushed her, she wouldn’t have gone to the hospital. She also realizes how important Pink ribbons support and constant guidance through out the traumatic process helped her pull through a disease that could have taken her life.

Aisha Khan is one of the many thanking Pink Ribbon today. Join us in our campaign and help save our women!
