Survival Story of Naseem Bibi

“I was experiencing a change in my right breast. It was becoming heavier and it worried me. I didn’t know whom to talk to?” Finally, she shared her problem with a close relative who suggested that she should visit a peer in Faisalabad. She also went to a Government Hospital in Faisalabad after her brother insisted that she must see a doctor as well. She was shocked when the doctor asked her to have an operation (mastectomy) within three days-apparently she had waited too long. She still didn’t understand the extent of damage done by the killer cells of cancer.

Naseem Bibi is now forty years old and has been receiving breast cancer treatment since 2008. After her operation in Faisalabad, doctors referred her to the Pink Ribbon Office in Lahore to seek help and guidance for her further treatment. Pink Ribbon took her to INMOL Hospital where she was treated free of cost. After which her tests were clear and she needed another three months of chemotherapy only. To date she is not aware of how close she came to death as her breast cancer was diagnosed at an advanced stage.
