PINKtober – 3rd Annual Youth Awards 2017
Pink Ribbon, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, held its 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony to announce the winners of PINKtober Youth Awareness Programme 2017. Awards for PINKtober Youth Awareness Programme are a sign of recognition to all the Universities which have shown their best performance in spreading the message of breast cancer awareness. Fatima Jinnah Dental College Karachi secured 1st Position, in the category of Universities, Govt. Postgraduate College for Women Satellite Town Rawalpindi secured 1st the category of colleges. Kinnaird College for Women University Lahore stand at second position in the category of University whereas Govt. College for women D.G Khan secured 2nd position in the category of Colleges. In the category of Universities, The University of Lahore secured 3rd position whereas Govt. Postgraduate College for Women Shad Bagh got 3rd position in the category of Colleges. Furthermore, in the category of Digital Campaign, 1st Position has been secured by Jinnah University for Women Karachi and 2nd position secured by Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information & Technology Rahim Yar Khan in digital Campaigning. At this occasion, Mr. Omer Aftab, CEO Pink Ribbon said; “Higher Education Commission has been working with Pink Ribbon since 2012. Pink Ribbon would not have been able to approach hundreds of universities alone, without the sincere efforts and support of Higher education commission. With the invaluable support of HEC, Pink Ribbon is empowering young girls with the knowledge and techniques to detect Breast Cancer at early stages, as it is registering an alarming increase in young girls of Pakistan”. He further added; ‘The incidence of breast cancer is increasing in young girls of Pakistan and awareness is the only key to survival. We need to prepare our generation to be health- conscious so they can have a better future. And HEC is playing an integral part in our programme. Dr. Prof. Arshad Ali, the chief guest of the event said “HEC is hopeful that this programme will keep benefiting the society and one can naturally save thousands of lives. He assured that Higher Education Commission would continue to serve as a bridge between Pink Ribbon and Higher Educational Institutions for increasing awareness about breast cancer among the youth of Pakistan. Ms. Shaheen Khan Adviser Learning Innovation also applauded the efforts of Pink Ribbon for creating awareness among the youth of Pakistan.
