Free Mobile Mammography Screening Service

Pakistan’s first Breast Cancer Mobile Mammogram Clinic was launched by Pink Ribbon Pakistan in collaboration with the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (INMOL) Pakistan on March 31st 2009.

Since there is a lack of medical facilities and doctors in the rural areas, where people have to walk many miles to get to a hospital, it is extremely difficult for women to get a mammogram regularly. To aid this, the campaign initiated the project of mobile mammogram bus so that even in locations where there is no easy access to hospitals, women can get regular checkups. This campaign is being used to reach out to the poorest of poor women for free screening services at their doorsteps to save thousands of precious lives as with early diagnosis.

This Breast Cancer Mobile Mammogram Clinic is equipped with state of the art mammogram machine, a UPS, a generator and is air conditioned as well. It has been furnished with a washbasin, stool and couches and the interior gives the air of being inside an actual clinic. The clinic is also equipped with its own processing unit and the results of the mammogram are immediately provided to the woman there and then.

The unfortunate women who are diagnosed with Breast cancer during these screening camps are then facilitated by Pink Ribbon for further treatment.
